The Board of Practical Training (BoPT) determine whether they can be processed for a subsequent apprenticeship contract through the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS).
If a student has an ongoing contract in NAPS, the validation check fails, and NATS will not permit further processing at that time. If the previous contract has been terminated, the validation check also fails unless a minimum gap of three months has elapsed from the contract end date and the next apprenticeship is based on an upgraded educational level.
Where a student has a completed NAPS contract, the eligibility for a second apprenticeship contract in NATS depends on two conditions: at least one year must have passed since completion of the previous contract, and the student’s educational level must have been upgraded. If both conditions are satisfied, the contract is eligible for approval by the Board of Apprenticeship Training (BOAT) or Board of Practical Training (BOPT).
