The Ministry of Defence (MoD) on October 09, 2026, issued the Draft Babina Cantonment Building Bye-laws, 2026.
The following has been stated: -
•The bye-laws prescribe requirements and procedures for building construction, reconstruction, additions, alterations, and building plan approvals within Babina Cantonment.
•They provide for applications through the e-Chhawani portal, compliance with structural safety requirements and payment of applicable fees.
•Rooftop solar installations and rainwater harvesting are encouraged for buildings below 300 square metres and are mandatory for plots exceeding 300 square metres.
•The draft proposes to supersede the 1976 bye-laws and invites public objections and suggestions within the prescribed 30-day period from October 14, 2026.
•It will take effect upon final publication in the Official Gazette.
