The Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas (CAQM) on October 15, 2026, conducted a special inspection drive in Gurugram on October 14, 2026, to assess visible road dust and the effectiveness of road-cleaning and sweeping operations. Four flying squads inspected 52 road stretches covering approximately 104 km, identifying 258 violations, including excessive visible road dust and accumulation of Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste. Of these, 174 violations were observed on roads under the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) and 84 under the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA). Damaged footpaths and potholes were also identified.
CAQM has directed MCG, GMDA and other concerned agencies to take corrective measures on a priority basis, ensure regular road sweeping, remove accumulated dust and C&D waste, and maintain roads in clean and dust-free conditions. The Commission emphasized that non-compliance may attract strict action, including prosecution as per law. Further inspection drives will continue across Delhi-NCR to assess implementation of air pollution control measures, identify compliance gaps and ensure timely corrective action.
