The Ministry of Textiles on October 16, 2026, issued a notification regarding fixation of maximum ex-factory prices for Type-A and Type-B jute bags for October 2026.
The following has been stated: -
•The Jute Commissioner has fixed the maximum ex-factory price for 5 gm Type-A and Type-B B-Twill sacking jute bags (580 grams, without linkage) at ₹1,81,060 per metric tonne or ₹10,501.48 per 100 bags.
•The prices apply to bags measuring 94 cm × 57 cm, conforming to BIS Specification IS 16186:2014, for purchase or sale during October 2026.
•Bags must bear the prescribed emblem, manufacturing mill name, and BIS certification mark, and meet the specified minimum breaking strength requirements.
•The fixed prices are exclusive of GST, which shall be paid additionally by the purchaser.
