The Ministry of Defence (MoD) on October 12, 2026, issued the Draft Wellington Cantonment Building Bye-laws, 2026.
The following has been stated: -
•The Ministry of Defence published the draft Wellington Cantonment Building Bye-Laws, 2026, under Section 251 of the Cantonments Act, 2006, proposing to supersede Notification No. 1409 dated May 24, 1947.
•The draft prescribes requirements for building plan approvals, construction, additions, alterations, structural safety, sanitation, ventilation, and other building standards within Wellington Cantonment.
•It also provides for compliance with applicable safety standards and submission of prescribed certificates through the relevant procedures.
Any person interested in making any objections or suggestions may submit them within 30 days from October 15, 2026.
