The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on October 16, 2026, issued an ETF Update to Cautionary Messages on the Trading Terminal.
The following has been stated:
• The Exchange, in consultation with the SEBI, has introduced a cautionary pop-up alert for International Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) to inform investors that these securities may trade at a significant premium or discount to their underlying Net Asset Value (NAV). The alert will be incorporated into the existing REG1_INDDDMMYY.csv file through an additional field in Column No. 24, which will continue to be made available daily on the Exchange website.
• Trading members shall implement functionality on their non-BOLT/BOW/BITs trading platforms, including IBT, STWT and CTCL systems, to display the applicable cautionary messages before order placement. Investors shall be given the option to select “Yes” or “No”, and the order may be transmitted to the Exchange only if “Yes” is selected. Trading members, third-party trading application vendors and back-office vendors shall make the necessary system changes.
• Members are also required to maintain logs of the alerts displayed for each security and the investors’ selections, provide these logs to the Trading Member’s Board through management, and ensure that the System Auditor verifies implementation during periodic submissions.
• Compliance with this functionality is mandatory for trading members dealing with retail clients by November 16, 2026.
