The Government of Gujarat September 8, 2026, notified the Bombay Primary Education (Gujarat Amendment) Rules, 2026, under Section 63 of the Gujarat Primary Education Act, 1947. The notification was issued on September 8, 2026, and published in the Gujarat Government Gazette on September 17, 2026. The Government has dispensed with prior publication to address circumstances requiring immediate action.
The amendment changes the title of the Bombay Primary Education Rules, 1949, to the Gujarat Primary Education Rules, 1949 by substituting Rule 1(1). It also provides that, from the commencement of the amendment rules, references to the word “Bombay” in the relevant primary education rules, sub-rules, resolutions, orders, circulars, regulations and notifications issued by or under the authority of the Gujarat Government before commencement shall be construed and read as “Gujarat,” unless the context otherwise requires.
The amendment rules come into force from the date of their publication in the Official Gazette, i.e., September 17, 2026.
