The Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission (UERC) on October 06, 2026, has revised the service line charges, predefined overhead and underground line charges, substation costs, transformer augmentation charges and initial security deposits under the UERC (The Electricity Supply Code, Release of New Connections and Related Matters) Regulations, 2020. The revised framework prescribes connection charges based on the applicant’s load and category, covering electricity connections up to 150 kW/176 kVA. It aims to eliminate individual site inspections and charge estimations, simplify the connection process and improve transparency. The revised charges are payable at the time of application, and no initial security deposit is required for connections released through prepaid meters.
The revised charges apply to new connection applications received on or after November 1, 2026. For line extensions exceeding 300 metres from the existing distribution mains, additional charges will apply for the excess distance, and the distribution licensee must intimate the additional amount within 15 days of receiving the predefined charges. The licensee must also ensure the availability of the required distribution transformer capacity; a higher-capacity transformer may be installed temporarily without additional cost to the applicant if the required rating is unavailable. The Commission may revise the charges through a separate order and will initiate amendments to the Supply Code Regulations to align them with the Electricity (Rights of Consumers) Rules, 2020.
