The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) on October 22, 2026, issued a notification regarding an amendment in the import policy of raw sugar classified under Exim Code 170114 of Chapter 17 of Schedule–1 (Import Policy) of ITC (HS), 2022.
The following has been stated: -
•The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has amended the import policy for raw sugar under ITC (HS) Code 170114 of ITC HS, 2022, Schedule I (Import Policy).
•The deadline for duty-free imports of 10 lakh metric tonnes of raw sugar under the Tariff Rate Quota (TRQ) has been extended from October 31, 2026, to December 31, 2026.
•The import policy continues to remain “Free”, subject to the existing conditions specified under Notification No. 31/2025-26 dated August 20, 2026.
•The amendment has been issued under Sections 3 and 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992, read with the Foreign Trade Policy 2023.
