IRDAI on September 23, 2026, released a two-part consultation paper titled “Recalibrating Economics of Insurance Distribution” to seek stakeholder and public feedback on proposed reforms aimed at creating a more efficient and inclusive insurance distribution ecosystem.
In view of the receipt of over 650 comments and to encourage wider participation, IRDAI has extended the deadline for submitting comments and suggestions until October 31, 2026. Stakeholders, policyholders, insurers, intermediaries and members of the public may submit their feedback through the consultation portal, by uploading the prescribed Excel template, or by emailing the completed template to [email protected] with the subject line “Reforms for Recalibrating Economics of Insurance Distribution”. The feedback will help IRDAI further examine and refine the proposed reforms.
