The Government of Manipur, on October 22, 2026, has declared the list of General Holidays, Restricted Holidays and Public Holidays for the year 2027.
The following has been stated:
Annexure-I contains 29 General Holidays for Government offices in Manipur, covering festivals and occasions such as New Year, Republic Day, Yaosang, Good Friday, May Day, Independence Day, Diwali, Ningol Chakkouba, Kut and Christmas.
Government employees may avail up to two Restricted Holidays from the 35 holidays listed in Annexure-II. Certain festival dates are subject to change depending on the appearance of the moon.
The notification also declares 22 Public Holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, including New Year’s Day, Republic Day, Good Friday, May Day, Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanti, Diwali and Christmas. April 1, 2027 is included as the holiday for the yearly closing of bank accounts.
For the Hill Districts and Manipur Bhawans at Kolkata, Delhi and Guwahati, the Kang (Rathajatra) holiday may be replaced by a local holiday with prior Government approval by January 31, 2027.
