The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) on October 19, 2026, issued Unified Framework Regarding Digitalization of the Electricity Distribution Sector.
The following has been stated: -
•The Central Electricity Authority (CEA), under the Ministry of Power, has issued the Unified Framework for Digitalization of Distribution Sector on October 19, 2026, to guide electricity distribution companies (DISCOMs) in adopting digital technologies and modernising distribution networks.
•The framework promotes the integration of smart metering, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), outage management systems and Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based analytics.
•It provides a phased, needs-based roadmap to improve operational efficiency, reduce electricity losses, strengthen cybersecurity and enhance power supply reliability and consumer services.
