The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) on November 03, 2026, issued the Amendment to Para 8.04(iii) of the Handbook of Procedures (HBP) 2023 – Mechanism for Resolution of Quality Complaints and Trade Disputes.
The following has been stated:
• DGFT has amended Para 8.04(iii) of Chapter 8 of the HBP 2023 under the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2023 to strengthen the mechanism for resolving quality complaints and trade disputes. Indian Missions Abroad are required to take up complaints with the concerned authorities for appropriate redressal, either directly filed by applicants or referred by the concerned Foreign Trade Divisions of the Department of Commerce.
• The Indian Missions and concerned FT Divisions shall periodically update the action taken and complaint status on the DGFT portal until resolution or final disposal. These updates shall be accessible to complainants through the portal. The amendment requires continuous and timely status updates until the matter is resolved, closed or otherwise disposed of.
